Observe rules and avoid accidents
It is important that consumers become aware of how gas cylinders are used
The recent explosion of a gas cylinder in Dubai highlights again the need for greater regulation and more public awareness on issues pertaining to its usage. The explosion luckily led only to minor injury to one individual and was caused, according to the police, by a gas leak. It is important that users become aware of how gas cylinders are used, taken care of, and there are no signs of leakage. The authorities could play an active role in making this knowledge available for the public. Users also bear the responsibility of ensuring that all safety procedures are followed.
But looking at the other side of the issue, it is also crucial that outlets selling and installing gas cylinders abide by a set of regulations that consider public safety a priority.
Those who cheat customers or resort to unsafe installation measures should be slapped with stiff fines.
