Families deserve speedy compensation and should not be exploited by other landlords
It's been a week since the residents of a Sharjah apartment building had their lives pulled asunder by a devastating fire. Since then, the 125 families have had to find new homes, begin buying new belongings and attempt to get on with their lives.
Unless you've been through the emotions of losing all of your world possessions in a fire, it's difficult to comprehend the stress being endured by the former residents of Al Baker Tower 4.
While charitable societies and individuals have dug deep to try and offer some assistance, it seems not enough is being done to help these unfortunate families. Adding to their misery is the shocking development that rents in the immediate area around the building have suddenly increased by 10 per cent. Shame on those who would seek to make a quick dirham on the backs of the devastated families.
The families deserve speedy compensation and every assistance possible.
