For your own sake, don't litter
Lack of respect for nature means some people litter without a conscience. How else do you explain 6,000 kilogrammes of waste that is collected from Dubai beaches daily?
These are dark times for the environment, when people think nothing of treating their beaches as large garbage cans, when the death of a million seabirds each year from eating discarded plastic is considered incidental, when individuals demand respect and fail to extend it.
Lack of respect for nature means some people litter without a conscience. How else do you explain 6,000 kilogrammes of waste that is collected from Dubai beaches every day?
Research shows that more than 50 per cent of littering occurs within five metres of a garbage can.
What's the solution? Use the garbage cans. Ensure your waste goes in the can, not beside it, or take it home. Don't do it for the 100,000 marine mammals that die each year from plastic ingestion, do it so your next visit to the beach isn't to the middle of a dumping ground, do it so your children can grow up in a filth-free environment.
