Capello was right to resign
England need a home-grown football coach who is familiar with the players
Fabio Capello's resignation as England football coach confirmed one thing: the underachieving English football team are constantly haunted by pre-tournament dramas. It is in keeping with their usual schedule of self-destruction. It also provides the English Football Association (FA) with an important lesson: stop hiring foreign coaches.
Perhaps, the best answer to the English team's international performances will be to have a home-grown coach who is familiar with the players and the intricacies of English football. Currently, England's preparations for Europe's premier tournament have been sullied. Capello was right to resign as the FA had not consulted him in stripping John Terry of the captaincy. It is the manager who must deal with everything that concerns the team that he has been grooming: the good; the bad and the ugly. It is also time for the English players to show more accountability when representing their country. They have a penchant for creating drama and have enjoyed unlimited immunity.
