Answering the call to help Gazans

UAE doctor risks his life to travel to the besieged Gaza Strip.

Gulf News

Ali Dabbagh, a Dubai resident and medical doctor, believes he has no choice but to try and help the beleaguered citizens of the Gaza Strip. Thousands of UAE residents answered the call on Friday by donating millions of dirhams to the Red Crescent Society for aid relief in Gaza. Dr Dabbagh has gone one step further. He has travelled to Cyprus and is joining a Free Gaza Movement vessel travelling from the Mediterranean island to the Strip.

Given the savagery employed by Israeli forces and the slaughter endured by the Gazans, Dr Dabbagh faces a perilous journey. If the vessel arrives safely, Dr Dabbagh plans to work in the hospitals there, aiding and assisting the sick and injured from Israel's brutality.

We wish Dr Dabbagh a safe voyage and offer our full praise for his humanitarian efforts: Putting his life on the line in service of others is an act of remarkable courage.
