Dubai: One person died and seven were injured in five accidents that took place over the past three days in Dubai.

Colonel Saif Muhair Al Mazroui, Director of Dubai Traffic Police, said a motorist lost control of his Nissan Patrol in Dubai Silicon Oasis in the early hours of Thursday and his car flipped over. The driver sustained severe injuries. The car and the barriers it hit were badly damaged.

He said preliminary investigation showed the driver either lost control due to speeding or swerved suddenly.

On Friday, at 9.40pm, the operations room received a call about a car hitting a motorcycle on Damascus Road. The motorcycle driver sustained injuries. The cause of the accident was due to not following lane discipline.

On the same day, two vehicles crashed into each other on Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Road after Dubai Silicon Oasis in the direction of Sharjah. The accident took place because the driver of a car did not leave enough space and crashed into the rear of another car.

The accident resulted in two people sustaining mild injuries and two sustaining moderate injuries.
