Hitler 'coached' Germany
London: Adolf Hitler was Germany's football team manager, according to youngsters aged nine to 15.
A study of 2,000 children which tested them on their knowledge about both world wars found that 40 per cent did not know that Remembrance Day falls on November 11.
Twelve per cent said the symbol of Remembrance Day is the golden arches of McDonald's, rather than the poppy. And more than one in 20 thought the Nazi leader coached Germany's football team.
The study was conducted by war veterans' charity Erskine, whose chief executive is Major Jim Panton. The survey also found that one in six children believed Auschwitz is a Second World War theme park.
