London: British people will spend 14 years of their life watching television, according to a survey on Friday.
Twenty-nine per cent of Britons spend 20 hours a week watching television, with 71 per cent saying they do not care much about what they are watching, according to research for Virgin Media.
"We don't realise how much we watch affects us...so it's rather worrying that 71 percent of us watch stuff for the sake of it," said psychologist Honey Langcaster-James.
The survey also concluded that 13 per cent of people could not bear to miss their favourite show.
In total, that means spending 14 years watching TV based on an average lifetime of 78 years.
