Thieves leave trail of rice to their hideout

Manila: Philippine police say four thieves have been arrested after unwittingly leaving a trail of rice stolen from a warehouse in the central region.
Senior Inspector Danilo Francisco said the four men were charged with robbery yesterday.
Francisco said the thieves broke into a warehouse in Bacolod city before dawn on Wednesday after negotiating a barbed wire fence on the periphery walls of the compound and hauled away four sacks of rice, a television set and assorted grocery items on a tricycle.
Little did the men realise that one of the sacks of rice had sprung a hole. Police had no trouble finding their way to the house about 500 yards from the warehouse.
"They became careless and in their haste, they did not notice that they were leaving a trail," said inspector Francisco.
