Pool champion denies molesting daughter
World Pool champion Ronato "Volcano" Alcano has denied molesting his 14-year-old daughter as the athlete's supporters defended that his accusers were only after his new found fortune.
Manila: World Pool champion Ronato "Volcano" Alcano has denied molesting his 14-year-old daughter as the athlete's supporters defended that his accusers were only after his new found fortune.
"There is no truth to the accusations," the 34-year-old Alcano said in the vernacular in an interview published by the Philippine Daily Inquirer as he referred to news aired by television networks on Monday over a case filed by his unnamed daughter by his estranged first wife.
According to reports, a case of "child abuse" is set to be filed against Alcano before the justice department following his daughter complaints that his father had molested her.
Alcano did not confirm nor deny that the child was his daughter but he could face possible long term imprisonment if it is proved that he committed child abuse.
Perry Mariano, Alcano's manager, said it is likely that there is someone egging the 14-year-old to file a case against her own father.
'Good father'
"Someone put her up to it. Ronnie's life is different now. He has money and a new car," Mariano was quoted by the report as saying.
Gwenn Alcano, Ronnie's wife, refused to believe the accusations hurled against her husband.
"He is a good husband and father and he is not capable of such abuse against his own child," she said.
