Philippines: boy accidentally shoots dead his father
Police say a 6-year-old boy accidentally shot dead his father, a soldier home for Father's Day after fighting Muslim rebels in the south.
Manila: Police say a 6-year-old boy accidentally shot dead his father, a soldier home for Father's Day after fighting Muslim rebels in the south.
Police Officer Hermogenes Capili says Private First Class Apolonio Pacioles asked his son to fetch his .45 caliber pistol at their home in Manila's Quezon City suburb early Sunday.
Police Officer Edwin dela Cruz says the boy got the weapon and removed its magazine as his father had taught him, not knowing that a bullet was loaded in the chamber.
Capili says Pacioles ignored the boy who then cocked the gun's hammer with his finger on the trigger and shot his 45-year-old father in the abdomen.
Dela Cruz says the boy and his mother reported the incident to police.
