Tokyo: The husband of Philippine President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo has fallen ill on a flight from Manila to Los Angeles, forcing a diversion to Japan, Kyodo news agency reported on Friday, quoting airport officials.
Fire agency officials based near Kansai airport, near Osaka, confirmed a Philippine Airlines plane would make an unscheduled landing after midnight (1500 GMT) but had no further details.
The president's husband, in his early 60s, underwent heart surgery at a Manila hospital last year, Kyodo said.
