Manila: Local government officials in the southern Philippines have petitioned the Supreme Court to prevail on the government to go public with the fine text of a pact on an expanded autonomous zone for Muslims in the region.
"The Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process must reveal the contents of a Memorandum of Agreement with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) which was signed by government and MILF negotiators in Malaysia last Sunday," said North Cotabato Vice Governor Emmanuel Pinol.
Local government officials filed a writ of preliminary injunction to stop the government from formally signing the pact, Pinol said.
