Landslides and flashfloods in the Philippines have left at least 45 people dead, relief and rescue officials said on Wednesday.

Heavy rains have brought havoc all over the region, with various areas reporting deaths or missing persons.
At least 19 people died in the eastern provinces, while 14 others were killed in the worst hit province of Samar.
12 other people were also killed in other provinces. Overall, 10 persons have been reported missing.
Most of the deaths were either due to drowning or being buried in landslides, according to the officials.
More than 5,000 houses were either partially or totally destroyed.
Relief goods have been rushed to the affected areas. Other rehabilitation efforts have also been implemented.
