Manila: President Gloria Arroyo suffered a bad case of stomach flu which prompted doctors to put her through medical and stress tests, local papers said.
Arroyo underwent several tests at the Asian Hospital in suburban Muntinlupa City, the Sunstar reported. Other sources conjectured that the illness could have had something to do with the president's late arrival at the unveiling of a bronze bust of former senator Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino Jr at the newly-opened third terminal at Pasay City's Ninoy Aquino International Airport on Monday.
Press Secretary Jesus Dureza confirmed that the president had come down with severe stomach ache on Friday. Her schedule on that day included a dinner with the visiting Prime Minister of Kuwait, Shaikh Nasser Al Mohammad Al Ahmad Al Sabah.
