Writs challenge candidatures of Sharif brothers
The Lahore High Court summoned former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his younger brother Shahbaz Sharif on June 18 in connection.
Islamabad: The Lahore High Court on Thursday summoned former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his younger brother Shahbaz Sharif on June 18 in connection with two writ petitions against the acceptance of their respective candidatures to contest the forthcoming by-elections.
A three-judge bench, however, rejected the petitioners' pleas to restrain Sharif from contesting the by-elections and Shahbaz from taking oath as a member of the Punjab legislature, until a decision in the case. Sharif is a candidate for a National Assembly seat from a constituency in Lahore.
