Karachi: A man suspected to be involved in a bomb blast on a Shiite congregation was identified by an eye witness on Tuesday in presence of a magistrate, police said.
The accused Atta Ullah was arrested by the Crime Investigation Department (CID) in the past week.
The CID police took the suspect to the court of judicial magistrate of Malir where the witness identified the suspect as one of the men whom he saw on the site of the bomb blast.
On the third day of Muharram, a bomb planted in a motorcycle ripped through the nearby shops and killed two men, leaving many injured. The motorcycle was parked just off the Shiite mosque in Abbas Town where the members had gathered to perform their rituals.
The suspect was arrested by the police from Mangopir a few days ago. During the arrest the police recovered a huge quantity of explosives while one of his accomplices was gunned down in the shoot out. Three others managed to escape.
Senior CID officer Chaudhry Mohammad Aslam said the accused also confessed his role in other bomb attacks, including the blast in Orangi Town.
Meanwhile law enforcement agencies arrested three activists of Tehreeke Taliban Pakistan (TTP) from Gulshane Maymar in north Karachi. The three suspects were arrested in a raid carried by rangers. Weapons were recovered from them.
