Islamabad: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari and the chief of the religious Jamiat Ulema-e Islam party, Maulana Fazlur Rahman, yesterday discussed the possibility of cooperation in forming a coalition government.
While announcing plans to form a coalition with Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Sharif (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif on Thursday, Zardari had said he wanted to take along all political forces while setting up a government of national consensus.
During the meeting, Rahman expressed his willingness to be a part of the coalition led by the PPP.
Rahman's Muttahida Majlis-e Amal (MMA) was routed in the February 18 poll in the North West Frontier Province, which it had ruled for the past five years, and bagged only five seats in the National Assembly or lower house of Parliament.
