Islamabad: Pakistan launched a search for its missing ambassador to Afghanistan on Tuesday, a day after he disappeared in a Taliban area.
Ambassador Tariq Azizuddin was heading to Afghanistan's Kabul with his driver when they went missing in the Khyber tribal district near the border with Afghanistan.
Security officials said tribal authorities were searching the area and had closed the main road between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
The Pakistan embassy in Kabul said it last had contact with the ambassador on Monday morning as he travelled from Peshawar to Kabul.
