Islamabad: More than 40 students from a military school whose convoy was ambushed by suspected Taliban militants in Pakistan's lawless tribal region near Afghanistan this week are reportedly still being held captive.
Javed Alam, the director of studies at Cadet College Razmak, told The Associated Press on Wednesday that 42 students and three teachers from the school had not been rescued.
The account contradicts the Pakistani chief military spokesman's comments on Tuesday that everyone who was seized in the Monday night raid on buses ferrying students and staff out of the restive territory was safely rescued hours later. The spokesman did not immediately return calls on Wednesday.
There have been increasing militant attacks in recent weeks in South and North Waziristan.
