Online animal sacrifice for Eid catching up
First it was banking, marriage matches and Eid cards, and now devout Muslims can also get the animal of their choice sacrificed online for festivities like Eid Al Adha.
Lahore: First it was banking, marriage matches and Eid cards, and now devout Muslims can also get the animal of their choice sacrificed online for festivities like Eid Al Adha.
Many local and international are offering traditional sacrificial animals - goat, sheep, camel and cow - for sacrifice and billing it through credit card.
Under the system, customers can either donate the animal directly to the poor or take home the meat from the trust office.
The system is also fast catching up with the people.
"The online booking is for people who are busy and do not have enough time to visit offices or markets. We started the service two years ago but few people were aware of it.
"Now we have a good response from internet users," a local daily quoted Shakeel Dehlawi, director of public relations for the Alamgir Welfare Trust International, Karachi, as saying.
Dehlawi said the online prices were also very reasonable.
"We offer a goat or sheep for only $84 [Rs5,000; Dh308], a full cow for $412 (Rs25,000) and a part of a cow for $60 (Rs3,600)," he said.
Other trusts like the Sahara for Life Trust of singer Abrarul Haq, and the The US-based group Islamicity and Life for Relief and Development also offers service to the devout.
Mufti Sarfraz Naeemi, head of Jamia Naeemia said the credit card user should pay the amount instantly to save himself from interest".
