Olympic torch arrives in Pakistan
Pakistan has welcomed the Olympic torch relay as China hoped it would be a trouble-free leg of the tour.
Islamabad: Pakistan has welcomed the Olympic torch relay as China hoped it would be a trouble-free leg of the tour.
A Pakistani coordinating official said: ''there is absolutely no chance of any trouble, any protest against it,'' but indicated ''all the security arrangements are in place to ensure peace'' during the ceremony.
Earlier, President Pervez Musharraf said he fully voiced his firm support for the Beijing Olympics.
Protests against China's human rights record have marred the torch's passage through Western cities.
Pakistan has gone to great lengths to avoid any repeat during its 22-hour stay en route to Beijing.
