KARACHI: Despite an ongoing operation to nab miscreants, at least nine people were found dead in different parts of the city yesterday.

These included a father and his two sons — a 48-year-old man named Abdul Shakoor and his two sons Zahid and Abid who were 24 and 20 years of age respectively.

Three other tortured bodies were also found dumped in a car in another incident.

A bank guard was also among the fatalities — he was killed by robbers, two of whom were later gunned down by the police.

The graph denoting the number of murders in Karachi dropped significantly after law enforcement agencies had launched an operation against outlaws in early September. However, the new surge of killings has once again put residents on alert.

In Gulistan-e-Jauhar town, people informed the police of a parked car. Police arrived to find three bodies dumped in gunny bags on the rear seat of the car. Police said the victims might have been kidnapped and later tortured.

The bodies bore marks of burnt cigarettes. The victims were moved to a hospital for autopsy but their identification could not be ascertained.

In another incident of firing, one man was killed near the entrance of Karachi University while another was shot at Maaripur road. Another man was killed with a firearm in Orangi Town overnight.
