Islamabad: The wife of ex-prime minister Nawaz Sharif, Begum Kulsoom Nawaz, has announced she will join active politics in a bid to defeat the regime of President Pervez Musharraf.
"Everybody has seen the real face of a dictator. Nawaz Sharif is the most popular leader of Pakistan but he was manhandled at the airport which shows the real face of this regime," she said while talking to private television channel Geo from her London residence.
Democracy
Her comments came after her husband was deported to Saudi Arabia upon his arrival at Islamabad Airport yesterday.
"I will be back in Pakistan soon to start political struggle against the dictatorial regime, so the nation can restore real democracy and the rule of law," she added.
Begum Nawaz led the party successfully after Sharif was deposed by Musharraf in October 1999.
"I am coming back to lead the masses against the dictatorial regime of Musharraf and will lead the anti-government demonstration myself," she claimed.
