Islamabad: Pakistani politician Imran Khan on Tuesday demanded audit of the whole election held in May 2013, giving a new twist to his campaign against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s government over alleged massive poll rigging.

“It is no longer a question of constituencies for vote verification and we now demand audit of the entire election,” Khan said while talking to media representatives.

Khan, who plans to lead a “million people march” to Islamabad on August 14 by his Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), said a vote audit was being held in Afghanistan over allegations of electoral fraud and similar exercise must be undertaken in Pakistan.

The PTI leader said his party had demanded verification of votes in only four Lahore constituencies but the government ducked and now “we demand audit of whole election.”

He said the Pakistan Muslim League-N government was product of “fradulent election” and that it had no right to stay in power, adding in reply to question that a mid-term election was the democratic way to sustain the democratic system in the country.
