Karachi: A two-member bench of the Sindh High Court on Friday adjourned until November 20 the hearing in a petition filed by Geo television challenging the ban imposed by the government on its transmission.
The government of President General Pervez Musharraf ordered all television channels off air after emergency rule was imposed on November 3.
Most of the television channels are now back after reaching agreements with the government, but Geo, the biggest private television channel and considered the most notorious, is still off air. It can still be watched through satellite and the internet.
Unfairly treated
The lawyer for the television channel pleaded that the ban against other networks had been lifted, and the continuation of such a ban on Geo suggested that it was not being treated equally.
The hearing was put off on the request of the government lawyer, who sought more time.
