Gilani seeks nation's support to face challenges

Karachi: Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani said yesterday that the country faces a grave crisis and he needs the support of the entire nation to put it back on the road of development and progress.
Gilani, while speaking to newsmen at the mausoleum of Pakistan's founding father Mohammad Ali Jinnah, said that the new Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP)-led coalition government has both the determination and capability to pull the present state of uncertainty.
"The country faces multiple challenges and problems," Gilani said without elaborating. "I pledged here at the mausoleum of Quadi-e-Azam that we will serve this country... and we will be successful in taking this country out of crisis," he said.
This was Gilani's first visit to Karachi after assuming responsibilities of prime minister-ship.
Gilani asked the media to point out the mistakes of his government so that it can serve the nation in a better way. Gilani, who left for Larkana later, said that he will also pay tribute at the mausoleum of PPP's founding leader Zulfikar Ali Bhutto whose 29th death anniversary was observed yesterday in Garhi Khudha Bux - the ancestral town of Bhuttos.
Earlier in a meeting at Governor House, Gilani stressed the need to develop political harmony in the country. "The politicians need to show political maturity for the betterment of masses," he said while talking to Sindh Governor Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan and Chief Minister Abdul Qadir Halepota.
