Fahim's links with presidency denied
The spokesman, responding to a question, said the president was willing to work with the new PPP-led coalition government.

Islamabad: The spokesman for President Pervez Musharraf yesterday denied a perception that senior Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Makhdoom Ameen Fahim, an aspirant for the office of prime minister, had links with the presidency.
"It is wrong that Ameen Fahim has links with the presidency," said the spokesman, retired major general Rashid Qureshi, speaking on a private channel.
The spokesman, responding to a question, said the president was willing to work with the new PPP-led coalition government.
The coalition includes PML-N of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, Awami National Party and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam.
Slain leader Benazir Bhutto's party was set to announce the name of its candidate for prime minister, as a nominee of Musharraf's allies quit the race.
Sharif's plea
Sharif, speaking to media, once again urged Musharraf to respect the people's verdict against him in the elections held in February and step down.
But the presidential spokesman said only Sharif and his party were demanding the president's resignation and no other component of the coalition was doing so.
"I do not know what is the problem with Nawaz Sharif whose party with 90 seats in the 342-member National Assembly is a minority in the House," Qureshi said, adding that he foresaw no functional hurdles between Musharraf and the new parliament and government.
