Karachi: In an early Friday morning raid, police shot dead three abductors and freed a young American-Pakistani who was kidnapped three days ago from a tea stall in Karachi.

Ameer Hamza was kidnapped near Bilawal House, the residence of President Asif Ali Zardari.

The family received ransom calls from the abductors who were demanding Rs30 million. They also lowered the ransom amount to Rs.20 million after negotiations.

Citizen Police Liaison Committee (CPLC), a public-private organisation experience in resolving the kidnapping for ransom cases, worked with the police to free the captive.

Friday morning Anti Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) of the police along with the CPLC official raided at the hideout of the kidnappers in the Defence area.

The kidnappers opened fire on the police and in the retaliatory fires; three of the abductors were wounded critically.

A freed Hamaza told the media that his hands and feet were tied whereas most of the time he remained blindfolded.

CPLC chief Ahmad Chenoy said that they were investigating further about the gang.
