Zimbabwean police arrest 7 election officials for undercounting votes
Harare: Zimbabwean police have arrested seven election officials for undercounting votes cast for current President Robert Mugabe in the Match 29 poll, officials said on Monday.
Harare: Zimbabwean police have arrested seven election officials for undercounting votes cast for current President Robert Mugabe in the Match 29 poll, officials said on Monday.
A police spokesman said seven people were arrested in relation with irregularities in the voting.
He added that they were still investigating it but had established that there was “deflation of figures in respect of one candidate ... the ZANU-PF presidential candidate (Mugabe)."
The arrested officials, who were working for the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission in four provinces, would be charged with fraud.
