Venezuela says former CIA operative plotted to kill Chavez
Venezuela's top security official said a former CIA operative masterminded an alleged plot aimed at assassinating President Hugo Chavez.
Caracas: Venezuela's top security official said a former CIA operative masterminded an alleged plot aimed at assassinating President Hugo Chavez.
Justice Minister Tareck El Aissami saod Cuban militant Luis Posada Carriles "orchestrated" the purported plot that prevented Chavez from visiting El Salvador for the inauguration of President Mauricio Funes.
Chavez claimed Posada was conspiring with US intelligence agencies to launch rockets at the plane he was going to use to travel to El Salvador.
Chavez has accused the United States of plotting his assassination before, a claim the United States has denied.
