Train crash kills at least eight in Indonesia
At least eight people were killed and more than 60 injured after a passenger train collided with a cargo train in Indonesia's Lampung province on Saturday.
Jakarta: At least eight people were killed and more than 60 injured after a passenger train collided with a cargo train in Indonesia's Lampung province on Saturday.
The Limex Sriwijaya train carrying at least 300 commuters slammed into the back of the other t rain, derailing several carriages.
"Eight are confirmed dead, all adults, and more than 60
people injured have been taken to a local hospital," said Zakaria, spokesman for train operator PT Kereta Api.
"We have evacuated the victims and now authorities are
trying to move damaged carriages," Zakaria said.
He added that authorities are investigating the cause of the accident.
