Kuala Lumpur: Nearly 3,000 people have been evacuated after flooding in central and northern Malaysia, state media reported on Sunday.

The state Bernama news agency said that some 2,514 people have been evacuated in central Pahang state, and 26 relief centres set up to shelter those displaced.

Two landslides have also occurred in the tourist hotspot Cameron Highlands, said a spokesman for the Pahang police flood operations room.

Bernama quoted the spokesman as saying that roads closed by the landslide had now been cleared of debris and reopened to traffic.
