Colombo: Clashes between rebels and soldiers in Sri Lanka has left 30 Tamil Tiger rebels dead and one soldier killed, the military said on Saturday.
The clashes that also left seven people wounded were the latest in a renewed civil war amid constant air raids, bombings and land and sea battles.
"Troops killed 30 LTTE terrorists in clashes in Vavuniya, Mannar and Jaffna on Friday," said military spokesman Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara.
The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) were not immediately available for omment on the fighting.
More than 5,000 people have been killed in fighting between troops and Tigers since early 2006.
