Police have fired shots into the air in the Kenyan city of Kisumu as they try to disperse an opposition protest.
Nairobi: Police have fired shots into the air in the Kenyan city of Kisumu as they try to disperse an opposition protest.
Around 300 people had gathered in the town, which is a stronghold for the opposition leader Raila Odinga, to demonstrate against the recent election results.
Two women have also been injured during another protest in the Nairobi slum of Kibera as nationwide protests hit Kenya.
Around 30 protests were called by the opposition Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), after President Mwai Kibaki was declared the winner of a close poll.
Claims of vote fixing have been made and the European Union has said the election fell short of international standards.
More than 600 people have been killed in violence since the election result was announced in December.
