Nairobi: A mass protest organized by the Kenyan opposition has been postponed following a request from former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan.
Raila Odinga's Orange Democratic Movement party was due to stage another protest against December's disputed election result on Thursday.
But the request of Mr Annan, who is in Kenya as part of a mediation team, has been listened to.
ODM MP William Ruto said: "On the request of the mediation team, we have called off the activities that we had planned for tomorrow to give this mediation the best chance.''
He added that his party had handed evidence to back up its claims of electoral fraud to the mediation team.
Mr Annan is due to meet President Mwai Kibaki in an attempt to find a resolution to the post election crisis which has resulted in the deaths of more than 650 people so far.
