Kenya's vote count to resume on Sunday

Last updated:

Nairobi: Kenya's election count has been stopped after fighting broke out at the electoral counting centre.

Rival parties scuffled as they demanded recounts, with both the presidential candidates neck and neck in the polls.

The count will now continue later on Sunday

Latest figures suggest that President Mwai Kibaki is now neck and neck with his opponent Raila Odinga.

The election has seen Kibaki's government take a big hit in parliament, with around 20 ministers losing their seats.

Around 10 per cent of the votes remain uncounted with Odinga polling 3.88m votes to Mr Kibaki's 3.84m.
