German ship captures 7 pirates in Gulf of Aden
Germany's Defence Ministry says one of its supply ships came under fire in the Gulf of Aden from seven alleged pirates who were later detained.
Berlin: Germany's Defence Ministry says one of its supply ships came under fire in the Gulf of Aden from seven alleged pirates who were later detained.
Ministry spokesman Christian Dienst says no one was injured in the Sunday incident in which the German ship returned fire, pursued the seven and then detained them with help of other ships in the international anti-piracy mission off the Horn of Africa.
Dienst said Monday the pirates were being held for questioning aboard the German frigate Rheinland-Pfalz.
The Gulf of Aden, between Somalia and Yemen, is one of the world's busiest waterways and the thousands of ships passing through each year have been plagued by pirate attacks.
