I want the New Year to be prosperous for our country. Right now, the whole world is looking at India to rediscover it. And we have to ensure that we put our best foot forward and lead the world by setting good examples. On the personal front, my children are stepping into the film world and I expect them to give their best shots. But then life is not about wishing all the time, but enjoying whatever comes your way. -

As one grows old, the sense of time whizzing by lends each passing day much greater significance. New Year is no exception. Wiser by experience I don't waste time making futile resolutions - giving up 'vices' that make life (sinfully!) enjoyable or not missing on exercises that not only ensure longevity but also make you 'bright and beautiful'. I treat it like another cherished 'gift' and take delight in travelling and exploring new food and music. -
Navjot Singh Sidhu
Cricketer-turned-politician
I do not make resolutions, because these are meant to be broken. I believe in living for the moment, thus the New Year does not mean anything new. My conviction is that between yesterday's regret and tomorrow's hope is today's opportunity. And we must take this opportunity and not delve into the past, which is like a bucket full of ashes, having no relevance. Since it's not chance, but choice that determines the destiny, we need to make the right choices. -

Each year one delves through a mixed bag of disappointments and fulfilment. The balance swings eternal. But each time the New Year comes round, it is surprising how I manage to sharpen my hopes and succeed in quelling the disappointments that the past year might have brought. I see far into the year - a rainbow of hope that will colour my life in the hues of hard work and success. And see myself being with loved ones and sharing their dreams. -
Suchitra Krishnamoorthi
Actress, writer and singer
I'm looking forward to 2010 with a freshness and optimism I haven't felt in a while. I have two films Rann and Mittal vs Mittal and also the second book in the Swapnalok Society series called The Good New Reporter to look forward to. I also intend to reconnect with my music and want to paint canvasses that sing. I also plan to do the 250-kilometre pilgrimage walk to Santiago de Compostela through France and Spain in May.
