EU Commission building in Brussels evacuated due to suspected fire
Firefighters are moving into the compound of European Commission headquarters in Brussels, after smoke was seen rising from the building. Hundreds of workers had to evacuate the building.
Brussels: Firefighters are moving into the compound of European Commission headquarters in Brussels, after smoke was seen rising from the building. Hundreds of workers had to evacuate the building.
The apparent fire began shortly after 1pm (1100GMT) Monday and a half dozen firefighter trucks quickly moved in.
There was no panic as the workers stood outside watching.
