Bangkok: Cases of cholera have been confirmed among survivors of Cyclone Nargis in Myanmar, the World Health Organization (WHO) said on Friday.

"We do have some confirmed cholera," said Maureen Birmingham, acting WHO representative in Thailand.

Birmingham said the hardest-hit Irrawaddy delta is where cholera is endemic, but that the number was similar with case levels in the previous years.
