Chinese officials confident on security at Olympics

Beijing: Olympic organizers have said they are confident security arrangements for the upcoming games will be in place, a day after news that China had thwarted two terror plots.
According to officials, one of the plans was to target the games. The other incident appeared to be an attempt to crash a passenger jet last Friday. Few details have been released.
"An efficient Olympic security command system is in place," a spokesperson told Associated Press. "We're confident of holding a peaceful and safe Olympic Games."
Critics say the lack of evidence of the two alleged plots has allowed the government to overstate a threat to justify tough measures at the games.
