British hostage reportedly killed by Al Qaida in Mali
Prime Minister Gordon Brown says a British hostage has apparently been killed by Al Qaida terrorists in Mali.
London: Prime Minister Gordon Brown says a British hostage has apparently been killed by Al Qaida terrorists in Mali.
Brown said in a statement on Wednesday that he believes Edwin Dyer has been killed.
The prime minister says the hostage was murdered by an Al Qaida cell in a "barbaric act of terrorism."
Dyer was abducted in January. His captors in Mali had threatened to kill him if Britain refused to release extremist preacher Abu Qatada from prison.
Qatada has been described in Spanish and British courts as a leading Al Qaida figure in Europe.
