Earthquakes struck across the world in places as far apart as Spain in Europe and the Solomon Islands to the northeast of Australia on Thursday.
A magnitude 6.7 quake struck the Solomon Islands, the US Geological Survey said on its web site.
The USGS, monitored in Singapore, said the quake's epicenter was about 2 km under the sea and occurred 75 km west-south-west of Honiara, the capital of the Solomon Islands.
No reports on casualties were available yet.
The earthquake that rocked Aguilar de Campoo near Palencia in northern Spain early on Thursday registered 3.3 on the Richter scale, radio reports said. No injuries or significant damage were reported.
The quake followed another measuring 5.1 in central Spain a week ago. The quake, which was unusual for a seismically stable part of the country, did not cause injuries or significant damage.
