Two youths die in police selection run in two days

Sharavan, 20, collapsed during the 5km run organised last morning as part of the drive for recruitment for police constables at Vijayawada, the police said. He was rushed to a hospital, where he died.
The second incident in as many days sent shock waves among hundreds of candidates appearing for police constable selection tests across the state. The 5km run was part of a week-long physical eligibility tests being conducted to recruit cops.
Police officers said the cause of the death would be known only after autopsy. Another participant in the run also collapsed and is undergoing treatment at the hospital.
A youth collapsed and died during a similar run in Warangal on Monday. R. Narender, 23, collapsed after covering half the distance. He was rushed to a hospital, where he was declared brought dead.
Police said the man died due to high blood pressure and cardiac arrest.
