Patna: Two people were killed and over two dozen injured in clashes in Bihar over playing lewd Bhojpuri Holi songs, police Friday said.

Santosh Kumar, 35, was shot dead in a village in Sheikhpura district after he protested playing of vulgar Bhojpuri Holi songs Thursday. “Santosh was killed in a dispute over playing vulgar Bhojpuri Holi songs,” police said.

Six people were injured in the clash. Security forces have been deployed in the village.

In another incident, a youth was shot dead in a village in Sitamarhi district when he questioned playing lewd Bhojpuri Holi songs.

“After a heated exchange of words over playing vulgar Bhojpuri songs, a youth was shot dead,” a district police official said.

At least 10 people were injured in the clash.

Over 15 people were injured in group clashes in Patna, Saharsa, Gaya, Aurangabad and Nalanda towns during Holi.

Holi was celebrated in Bihar Thursday, a day after the rest of the country celebrated the festival of colours.
