Samajwadi Party likely to help Paswan

New Delhi: The Samajwadi Party may come to the rescue of the beleaguered former federal minister Ram Vilas Paswan by facilitating his entry to the Lok Sabha.
The Samajwadi Party is considering a proposal of supporting Paswan from Ferozabad seat, vacated by party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav's son Akhilesh Yadav.
Akhilesh was elected from both Ferozabad and Kannauj seats in Uttar Pradesh and opted to retain Kannauj seat.
Paswan lost his traditional Hajipur seat from Bihar and his Lok Janshakti Party drew a blank in the just concluded Lok Sabha elections.
Samajwadi Party sources here said that while it will be a goodwill gesture of party of Mulayam, such a move would help the party in the longer run since despite his defeat, Paswan's stature as one of the top Dalit (Scheduled Caste) leaders of the country cannot be overlooked.
Paswan's LJP had joined hands with the SP and Rashtriya Janata Dal of Lalu Prasad Yadav during Lok Sabha polls.
