Lucknow: At least 14 people were killed in at least six districts of Uttar Pradesh as several houses collapsed and trees were uprooted due to rains, officials said on Saturday.
The highest toll was reported from Sultanpur, where six people including three girls died in separate incidents of house collapse in Kadipur, Musafirkhana and Gauriganj sub districts, officials said.
Meanwhile, after the heavy rains in Faizabad district, the Saryu River has crossed its danger mark, officials said.
Now, with the river in spate, the flood threat looms large in over 100 villages of the district including Dhemva, Mangalsi, Ramnagar, Dhaurhara and others, the officials added.
