Prodigal son knocks on Congress doors
Karunakaran espouses Muraleedharan's case
Thiruvananthapuram: The Congress in Kerala is seen to be under some strain, following the possibility that the party may indeed open its doors again for K. Muraleedharan, who is earnestly seeking a return to the Congress fold after years in the political wilderness.
Muraleedharan, son of veteran Congressman K Karunakaran, and a former Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president, was last attached to the Nationalist Congress Party, and is presently without any political posts.
His case had once been rejected by the KPCC executive committee, but Muraleedharan's hopes have suddenly sprouted wings with his father writing to the KPCC once more, this time from a private hospital here, where he is undergoing treatment for breathing-related diseases.
Muraleedharan is expected to meet All India Congress Committee general secretary in charge of Kerala, Mohsina Kidwai, in an effort to argue his case for a comeback to the party.
