New Delhi: Rajendra Vadra, the father-in-law of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, was found dead in the room of the guesthouse in which he lived in Yusuf Sarai. Police reportedly found the body hanging from a ceiling fan on Friday morning.
The body was first taken to a hospital in Saket and was later moved to the Safdarjung Hospital for post-mortem. A police officer said, "The post-mortem was necessitated as he was brought dead to the hospital."
Gandhi Vadra, daughter of Congress president Sonia Gandhi, attended the cremation on Friday afternoon with husband Robert Vadra. This is the third tragedy in his family, as sister Michelle died in a car crash in April 2001 and younger brother Richard killed himself in 2003.
Police sources said Rajendra Vadra was suffering from cirrhosis of the liver and had undergone treatment at the Max Hospital in Saket and was discharged about 12 days ago. Vadra was in his sixties and, until recently, ran an export business.
